Banking and Payments company FIS opens Mobile Development Offices in Petaluma

Petaluma, CA – Basin Street Properties, a prominent Northern California real estate investor and developer, has signed a lease with FIS for 4,985 square feet in its Theatre District Office Building in Petaluma. FIS powers industry-leading mobile banking and payments apps for 1,600+ financial institutions, reaching more than 33 million end users.

“FIS opening an office here is exciting to Petaluma for many reasons. It brings more technical jobs to the region, and it is indicator of the surging economy and job market in the Sonoma region.” said Scott Stranzl, Vice President of Leasing for Basin Street Properties. “And similar to Vendini early this month, it follows the trend of Bay Area companies looking north to Petaluma for its attractive employee base, lower rents, and more affordable cost of living.”

The FIS mission is simple when it comes to mobile app development: create software that allows users to have an immediate connection with their money through the power of mobile.  Their business to business solution is branded for FIS clients – banks and retailers – so you might not have heard about FIS.  But, chances are, if you’ve used a mobile banking app on your phone, you were using FIS software.

FIS garnered attention earlier this year for opening of its new Digital Innovation Lab in San Francisco. Nicknamed “The Garage” their new space provides a state of the art venue for FIS engineers to innovate, test and pitch the latest in mobile solutions. FIS has crafted a creative and intellectually stimulating environment where new ideas fuel our mobile solutions, and sees Petaluma as another opportunity to test early stage innovation and development.

There is a lot of buzz around FIS offices on expanding operations to Petaluma. The team working in Petaluma is represented by several departments including Mobile Engineering, Data and Analytics, Client Services, Support and Operations, and Design.

A big part of the team’s recent growth is due to the strong partnership FIS has with the local universities. FIS is pleased with the quality of the students in the North Bay area, and this move now gives them the ability year round to work with those students interested in diving into the FinTech space. It also opens up opportunity for FIS to grow with the local workforce who does not wish to commute to San Francisco. Most importantly, the opening of the Petaluma office allows FIS to continue to give employees the work-life balance they value.

The Theatre District Office Building has over 24,000 square feet of Class A office located in the vibrant downtown Petaluma Theatre District where you have abundant retailers, boutiques, bars, restaurants and entertainment venues in an open-air plaza complete with café seating and a beautiful fountain. The property is locally owned with on-site property management. Representing Basin Street Properties was Sara Wann & Rhonda Deringer of Keegan & Coppin while FIS was represented by Kelsey Bodine of the Orion Realty Group.
